Primitive Technology

How to Basic: Experimental Archaeology Edition

Hi readers:

Today Im wil talk about one of my favorites places of internert, it is a youtube channel called "Primitive Technology", and it is about how a man handmade a things like bows, funances, slings and a lot of things, only with what nature provide us. The channel is runned from an Australian guy, who do this reading thing on internet and putting them on practice to see if they real work.

The channel has 39 videos and 8.4 millions subscribers. His more viewed video has 53 million view and it's titled "Tiled Roof Hut", where hte literally builds a house with brics of mud, all made manually by himself.

I like this channel because it represent how humanity has lost his ability to do his own things, now, we depend on the products of the mass industry of plastics. That's why I believe we should go back in some thing and re use past industries, like the lithic one.

I also like it, because it represent one of my aspirations as an anthropology-archaeology student: experimental archaeology.

This Document: A memory of my journey's around Valparaíso.

The cat of the butterfly hill (30 th June, Saavedra Stairs, Cerro Mariposa, Valparaíso, 2018, by Pedro Pino Rocco)
Hi reader's:

I was given the task to talk about a photo of my collection, so, I looked for something that had value to me, so, if you are good follower, you will find that on my previous post I talked about my hobby.
So, yes, you can predict what this photo is: a documentation of my experience.

It's was june 30th, and I was bored at home, none of my friends was avaliable at that moment, so I had two options: Die of boredom or find something to kill the time. I choosed what I tinked it was the best. So I decided to go out, but the real question was: where?

So I thinked for a while, then I found my answer. On one of my party nights -and probably drunk- I remember me and my friends going up the hill. The meta: Arrive to the Ongolmo lookout. There we shared a moment of peace, it was perfect, because we were young and carefree (we still young, but then we were more childish).

Looking for that memory on my head, I decided to revive that moment of exciment. So I picked up the Bus and choosed to go there again. There's no better way to revive something living it again -but this time not drunk-.

So, I get off the bus at the Parque Italia, then I walked two apple's towards the hills finishing at Colon avenue, then I walked along this strees towards The Aduna, Until I found a street called "Aguada". There is a little stair, that go up, I taked it. The stairs was under construction, so it was hard at first, but when you pick up the rhythm it goes easier.

For a moment, my curiosity played againts me because I got lost, but then I found my way to Baquedano avenue. There I walked donw. I was on my way to Ongolmo lookout, but I found something better: The saavedra stairs that were also connected to the Ongolmo stairs. It was a two for one, -an offer-.

Going down that vertical staris I found a black and white cat, it was a male, and also very charming. I petted his belly and taked pictures of him, while I was listening X (equis), a song of Nicky Jam (someone nearby was playing it).

Then the moment arrived, the cat posed for my and I taked the chance, the photo was made.- It was a good moment-. Thats why I like this photo, because it represents what I like to do, also it show one of my favorites places of Valparaíso, located at Butterfly Hill.

That will be all palls (quoting the Loony Toons).
Cheers.

The strike

Hi readers

I know that i haven't updated this blog for at least two months, so, its time to explain what I´ve been doing this time.

When the strike started I also fell sick, Im not gonna lie, it was a relieve, because I could rest and get better for the back to classes.

But how I dont live in Santiago, I could not spent my time at the University and faculty. So, instead I started to work and focused my energies to heal. Also, I spent my free time partyng and studying, but, being honest, homework was the least of my preocupations.

This strike also, was a good oportunity to find new things about me and my city. I have to say that i love to walk and pet stray cats, so, I decided to combime my both likes into one hobby.

Now, I came back to classes, the strike ended, and I'm excited but also scared, I dont know I can deal with this rush of homework and tests.
