Free Post: My hobby.

One cent, with the saying: "Economía es Riqueza". Coin from 1898.

Hi readers

This is my last post. I got delay with one of the posts, and this one must be about a free topic.
So Im going to talk about one of my hobbies that is directly related with numistics, that is the study, presenvation and collection of coins -any types of coins and paper money- but specially the oldest coins. After all, the numistics work with the logic of fetichism and collection as museums do.

On my personal collection  I have a narrow pool of coins. I collect out of circulation and modern coins. On my case, at least the most of them are Chilean coins, being the oldest one form 1898, and it was found from my mother at his work, around 2010. I remember when she give it to me, I was really excited, after all, it was a real old coin. Even when I know that there are older coins on the world, this was special because it came from a place real close to my house, also it show us how our coins had changed across the time, and this one was made at least 112 years ago when it arrived to my hand, and today this coins has 120 years old.

If we think carefully,  this coin is oldest that any of us, also, think on every hand that olded it, when it was used to bought things, and when it was forgotten under a parquet floor, until it was found from my mother. The things that this coin saw and heard. One hundred years of history that only this coin can tell.

I wish I had more coins like this one, but I know that some day I will found an oldest coin that will form part of my collection.

Also, I have to say that along the 2008, a lot of coins with the typographic error of Chiie was made. I have a lot of them, and Im still collecting them because they are valuable on the market of coins of collections.

Check your coins, maybe you have a little trasure in your pocket and you didnt knew.

Thats all pals <3

About Preintermediate class.

Hi readers

This semester I was part of the course Preintermediate, where we learn how express ourselves across writting and speaking -also spelling- on english.

For this we write 8 different post -that you can check below-. Also we had listening and oral interactions -understood as speaking- between students.

Thus we did our best nonchalantly. So we got some fun doing that, it was a good way to do our learning. because none of us was actually a fluent speaker, and a lot of people feel embarrased about their english. So, it helped a lot. Of course, it was not perfect, even if the speak to each other, we could make a mistake, and for the lack of knowledge, none of the speakers would notice. Furthermore, the listening was a real problem even for the experimented one's, because the audio was on British accent, and the difference between american english -the usual for the chilean- and the british one, was huge or not easy to ignore. Even with that little problem, I could improve my writting, after all, im not used to it -to writte in a foreing language-. Also, it helped me to find my hearing problems. It's time to watch more British related audios -podcasts, documentals, etc.

I would like to include things more fun, like videos or movies, to watch on class or something, things related with different kind of expression (maybe that is part of the Intermediate course, I have no idea). The point is, that the class lacked of fun things sometimes. It was frustrating for everyone. It felt more like a routine. But all of us did our best in every way, and we all know that. It's not your fault miss.

About an extra thing, I have to say that the real way to learn any foreing or native language, you have to read things, and look for audios or movies that could help you. That was the way that I learnt the things that I know now. Maybe im not a real fluent speaker, but at least I try.

In conclusion, you have to be autodicat or self-taught person to learn any language, But even if you do that, you will lack of something that can be fixed with patience and practice.

Thank you miss and companions for be part of my class.

Greetings <3

The best Topic of my classes

Métodos y Técnicas de Laboratorio I: Lítica (AN01048-1)

Hi readers.

About my classes, I have to say that the more interesting one, on my actual mention, is called

Métodos y Técnicas de Laboratorio I: Lítica, labeled as AN01048-1.

On this class, we do the study and analysis of lithic technology and his applicattion to understand how the past people lived, after all, we can take evidence from this pieces of stone to make models and interpretations of the lifestyle of the past populations.

This models can help us to explain and study topics like:

(1)Mobility and Technology.
(2)Provisioning and flow of raw materials.
(3)Lithic technology, intensification of economy and social complexity.
(4)Learning and technique abilities.
(5)Know how and technologic style.
(6)Prestige technology, social agency and symbolism.

And to achieve that, we use different kind of schools. The French School of lithic technology focus his work on Chaine operative, which means the analysis and study of how this instruments are made, dividing this in four stages: Provisioning, Manufacturing, Use (recycling) and Discard. With an approach from experimentation. Instead, the American School of lithic technology use a methodology focused on etnographic (fieldwork) evidence also cloncluding in the division of the same four stages. Both ended with similar questions and answers.

In classes, we had a practice where we experimented with cores of stone, we tried to make flakes, then we tried to make stone tools, finally we tried use them on diferent kind of materials like wood and bones to make marks of use on them. We failed on the last one. To make a stone tool with obvious marks of use, it has to be used a lot (years). It was fun, so that's why I like this class more than others.

Soon I will have another class related to this called Métodos y Técnicas de Laboratorio II: Cerámica. I guess it will be fun too.

That will be all pals.

Primitive Technology

How to Basic: Experimental Archaeology Edition

Hi readers:

Today Im wil talk about one of my favorites places of internert, it is a youtube channel called "Primitive Technology", and it is about how a man handmade a things like bows, funances, slings and a lot of things, only with what nature provide us. The channel is runned from an Australian guy, who do this reading thing on internet and putting them on practice to see if they real work.

The channel has 39 videos and 8.4 millions subscribers. His more viewed video has 53 million view and it's titled "Tiled Roof Hut", where hte literally builds a house with brics of mud, all made manually by himself.

I like this channel because it represent how humanity has lost his ability to do his own things, now, we depend on the products of the mass industry of plastics. That's why I believe we should go back in some thing and re use past industries, like the lithic one.

I also like it, because it represent one of my aspirations as an anthropology-archaeology student: experimental archaeology.

This Document: A memory of my journey's around Valparaíso.

The cat of the butterfly hill (30 th June, Saavedra Stairs, Cerro Mariposa, Valparaíso, 2018, by Pedro Pino Rocco)
Hi reader's:

I was given the task to talk about a photo of my collection, so, I looked for something that had value to me, so, if you are good follower, you will find that on my previous post I talked about my hobby.
So, yes, you can predict what this photo is: a documentation of my experience.

It's was june 30th, and I was bored at home, none of my friends was avaliable at that moment, so I had two options: Die of boredom or find something to kill the time. I choosed what I tinked it was the best. So I decided to go out, but the real question was: where?

So I thinked for a while, then I found my answer. On one of my party nights -and probably drunk- I remember me and my friends going up the hill. The meta: Arrive to the Ongolmo lookout. There we shared a moment of peace, it was perfect, because we were young and carefree (we still young, but then we were more childish).

Looking for that memory on my head, I decided to revive that moment of exciment. So I picked up the Bus and choosed to go there again. There's no better way to revive something living it again -but this time not drunk-.

So, I get off the bus at the Parque Italia, then I walked two apple's towards the hills finishing at Colon avenue, then I walked along this strees towards The Aduna, Until I found a street called "Aguada". There is a little stair, that go up, I taked it. The stairs was under construction, so it was hard at first, but when you pick up the rhythm it goes easier.

For a moment, my curiosity played againts me because I got lost, but then I found my way to Baquedano avenue. There I walked donw. I was on my way to Ongolmo lookout, but I found something better: The saavedra stairs that were also connected to the Ongolmo stairs. It was a two for one, -an offer-.

Going down that vertical staris I found a black and white cat, it was a male, and also very charming. I petted his belly and taked pictures of him, while I was listening X (equis), a song of Nicky Jam (someone nearby was playing it).

Then the moment arrived, the cat posed for my and I taked the chance, the photo was made.- It was a good moment-. Thats why I like this photo, because it represents what I like to do, also it show one of my favorites places of Valparaíso, located at Butterfly Hill.

That will be all palls (quoting the Loony Toons).
Cheers.

The strike

Hi readers

I know that i haven't updated this blog for at least two months, so, its time to explain what I´ve been doing this time.

When the strike started I also fell sick, Im not gonna lie, it was a relieve, because I could rest and get better for the back to classes.

But how I dont live in Santiago, I could not spent my time at the University and faculty. So, instead I started to work and focused my energies to heal. Also, I spent my free time partyng and studying, but, being honest, homework was the least of my preocupations.

This strike also, was a good oportunity to find new things about me and my city. I have to say that i love to walk and pet stray cats, so, I decided to combime my both likes into one hobby.

Now, I came back to classes, the strike ended, and I'm excited but also scared, I dont know I can deal with this rush of homework and tests.

Why did I choose this career?

Why did I choose this career?

28th, April, 2018,  00:19 am

Hi, everybody, today I'll explain how did I get here, and the answer is not short.

Before I arrived to FACSO, I was and student of another university, I was young and full of new ideas, I believed that I could change the world, so, that made me join with all of my joy to the ingeniering school, it was aweosome at first, but I felt upset, something was not right.

I liked chemestry, but hated maths. For an future engineer, that doesn't make any sense. I felt that I ust was there only for family preassure. It was heinous. So, I deciced to look beneath that, after all, I could not fear what lies there, I can't fear myself.

Along my school days, I liked history. human bahviar, social conduct, science and stuff, I liked to ask to myself, why humanity is like this? But i never found a real answer, and one day, -through my research- I found the web page of FACSO, and there was my answer, Anthropology seems nice I thought.

Perhaps, I was destinated to find it. The time arrived, and a new process for new students open up, I was exited, but at the same time scared. My chances were low, but I tried anyways, I have nothing to loose - I said.

And, surprise -probably not- I was accepted. Then my journey started. Since 2016 I have learnt a lot of things about the human phenomen, and I don't complain. The career charmed me, now, Im starting my mention in archaeology, and I'll finnish it soon :P

And why archaeology? because when I was a youngling I wanted to be and paleontologist or veterinarian (vet), but the first one does not exists in Chile and the second one the field of work is not gentle with their graduated students, so I deciced to join this carrer because it was the closest one. But I have learnt more that i expected, so I dont complain.

Thank you dear readers.

Pd: Maybe I'm a little dramatic, but, what is life without drama?

The reason of this Blog

17 th April, 2018

Hello new readers:

Let me introduce myself, my full name is Pedro Pablo Emilio Pino Rocco, more known like Peter or Fino -my street name-, i'm 21, and the purpouse of this blog was to improve my communication skills, why could you ask? Because my english is not good enough, and in this moderm world, english is a needed tool, and if you don't know how to use it properly, then you're in trouble :c.

I was born the 3th November, 1996 in Providencia, Santiago. But I never lived in Santiago before, my parents decide to move to Quilpue, then to Viña del Mar, until we arrived to Iquique, finally, we moved to our actual city, Valparaíso.

My actual family is composed of 7 members, I have two big sisters, a "little" brother (He's more taller than me, so it's weird), my little nephew, my mother, my brother in law and finally me.

How I moved a lot during my childhood, I studied in differents types of schools in different cities, so it's a llitle bit complicated to explain them all, but, I finnished my formal education in Valparaíso at the age of 18. Then, life decided to bring me back to Santiago, where I'm a anthropology student at FACSO of UCH.

My hobbies are the common ones -I guess-, I like music, videogames like StarCraft, Light Novel's and walks, especially at night, I like dark atmospheres. Sometimes, I try to learn new lenguajes like portuguese, so if anyone who reads this knows how to speak and spell it, please, teach me :D.

Tha's all.

PD1: Lero lero to everyone who reads this.
PD2: Lero lero is a mocking expression, but in a good way :P.
